Cakebread Cellars Benchland Select 2013 VINTAGE WINES 1985Founded in 1973 by Jack & Dolores Cakebread in Rutherford, Napa Valley. It has steadily grown in size and reputation ever since. 2013 was a very good vintage for the region. Typical blend, Cabernet Sauvignon. 75cl bottle. Abv 15% Bottle condition, capsule good, label complete a little scruffy, wine level into neck.

Now the estate has 65 hecters of its own vines producing great wines

Weather conditions were uneven and although it was a large crop the wines were overpriced on release and the vintage was responsible for the financial collapse of the Bordeaux market

but one where the north faired better and produced some good wines

The first Monte Bello was made by Ridge Vineyards in 1962

with whom it has remained

but still a bit past prime
